2025 Recap
Starting anew in 2026 with a return to writing and 2025 recap 🤍
Oh, how I’ve been putting off writing again.
Like any other creative endeavor, habit, or activity, it can often rely upon momentum. It certainly does for me.
I’ve set the goal of writing a weekly newsletter — not as an arbitrary goal to throw at myself in the new year, but rather as a commitment to a practice I know is important for my inner world, my mental health, my creative expression.
I’m not going to be hard on myself. Another active self practice at this stage for me is to be less compulsive. So, if I miss a week, it’s okay. If I send out the newsletter a day or two later than I had planned, it’s okay.
AND, yet another goal is to push myself. Part of my story, and part of my healing journey, is to find the appropriate balance of challenging myself and being gentle with myself. I went from years of absolute intensity, all or nothing mentality, powering through no matter what, to the opposite — doing whatever I wanted and nothing I didn’t want. I’ve learned that both of these mentalities have their own price, and while I believe it was important to jump to the latter to save myself from the former, it has its own costs.
This is where the writing comes in handy. To work through the ever-contrasting, ever-oppositional, ever-confusing and distracting thoughts that come into play.
That seems like a good place to start. I hope that you have an easy transition into this new year and am sending you my love.
